If you are getting started in beekeeping this kit contains everything you need. (Items marked in bold are substituted for out of stock items)

The Cedar hive itself consists of:

1 brood box with 10 frames and foundation.

2 supers with 20 frames and foundation .

1 queen excluder.

1 solid floor with an entrance block.

1 double hive stand.

1 crown board.

1 deep roof.

We've also included the essential beesuit and gloves, as well as a hive tool and a smoker (now HD567, see third image) with cotton fuel.

Second Grade Cedar products are made using English Cedar. English Cedar is often lighter in colour compared to Western Red Cedar, however still provides a quality item that is made to last. 2nd grade boxes are our standard. Sturdy construction with some cosmetic imperfections.

We choose to use either Western Red Cedar or English Cedar for our products, as the only other option we have would be a less sustainable Cedar from Asia. This has a less reliable certification process in terms of sustainable harvesting.

Parts of the hive are often made of many pieces glued together. Although this does have some advantages in terms of warping it is less aesthetically pleasing.
