First Grade and Select Cedar products are always made from Western Red Cedar, this wood is grown in north America and is the highest quality range of cedar wood. All of our cedar is sustainable and certified. 1st grade are our very best products, with little to no knots or imperfections. These will last and last, and they look fantastic.

We choose to use either Western Red Cedar or English Cedar for our products, as the only other option we have would be a less sustainable Cedar from Asia. This has a less reliable certification process in terms of sustainable harvesting.

Parts of the hive are often made of many pieces glued together. Although this does have some advantages in terms of warping it is less aesthetically pleasing.
