2 Tube Candle Mould, 10.5"
- Uses 2/0 ply wick.
- TopTip: If mould release spray does not release the candle from the mould, try placing the mould directly in the freezer overnight after the wax has hardened.
- If the candle is still not coming loose, run the mould under hot water long enough to soften the edges.
- Make sure the water is not too hot as this will melt the candle.
About this item
Great mould and easy to use.
I really wanted a four-tube mould but, at the time of writing, they are out of stock. As a compromise, I settled for a two-tube mould but I think this was a mistake. The base on the four-tube mould is attached at the tips of the four mould tubes and, as a square structure, I would imagine it is relatively stiff. However, with the two-tube mould, this is a definite weak spot: without the support of the extra tubes and, only being attached at the tip of just two tubes, the soldered joint is easily bent and/or broken unless the user takes extreme care. After using it for the first time, it became patently obvious that the base attachment was poorly designed and it is disappointing that the manufacturer failed to notice such a glaringly obvious fault. I have modified mine with a couple of brass reinforcing gussets, soldered to both the mould base and the bottom of the tubes. This has made the attachment point much stiffer and the manufacturer may wish to consider this modification for their two-tube moulds. On reflection, I wish I had waited until the four-tube moulds were back in stock. Another disappointing area is the wax reservoir: it is too shallow by far and it always needs topping up to fill contraction voids. I've used other similar moulds with much deeper wax reservoirs (three times the depth) where the volume retains heat and liquid wax for longer and they never need topping up. All in, this two-tube candle mould was a disappointing purchase.
The service was excellent, the replacement for the first one was done with charm and the refund when the second one also broke was managed beautifully. Unfortunately the product doesn't appear to work. The solder isn't strong enough, handles fell off and the mould leaked. Maybe I was just unlucky or a user error? The other products that came at the same time have been perfect.
Great mould. Easy to use, but take note of the instructions about pour temps. Over all I give it a big thumbs up.
