About this item
I've been waiting for a long time for somebody to develop a 14x12 correx nuc box. Sadly I was disappointed as it was fiddly to build, the postage was expensive, it could barely fit in 5 frames and in doing so it opened the seams of the box meaning bees escaped. Overall I wouldn't buy again.
I wouldn’t like to build this box in a rush! Not sure how bee safe it is - yet.
bought 10 of these poor quality folding joints not perforated properly some not even marked at all had scribe my own folding lines sides bowed out allowing bees to escape had to goriller glue them also cover tabs to lock lid try putting the lid through the tabs with 5 frames of bees trying to get out poor design squashes lots of bees as cant see whats happening if your stuck it would do wont buy any more
I bought a coupe of these and have been using them this spring for swarm collection and temporary housing of the swarms.
Very versatile and robust. I’d really recommend. I will definitely buying some more!
Have been looking for 14 x 12 corex nuc boxes for a while, so a very handy addition to the range. A couple of minor points.
The bung is not tethered, so once lost in the bee shed could be tricky to close up the box.
Also the ventilation holes were not punched all the way through, so unless you clean them out before use there will be a very unhappy bunch of bees in there.
Frames are very tight at the ends, but once in they seems to be fine.
