Wood to poly

Moving from wood to poly. Even though I am a die hard wooden hive person.
But I need my bees off to a fast start in the spring. So Iam intrested to see how they do over the winter in a poly.
I did do a lot of research before settling on the paradise honey hive. So far really impress with the thickness and strength of the hive.

Fully satisfied

This was my second purchase of this bee hive and chose both of them after much research as I am a newbie to bee keeping. The bees have settled in the first and this recent purchase awaits a swarm of bees next year. I am fully satisfied with the hives and my dealing with Bee Equipment.

Poly hive

I use spacers so you only get ten frame in the hive. OK if you bare in the north but I may need a bit more brood in the SE of England.
The queen excluder is not a standard National size, so another bit of additional kit.
The entrance block is not a good fit and 'leaks' bees when shut
Overpriced at £100 plus, more like a good buy at £60 or £70

A CAR-WRECK

I bought and was sent ten full Paradise-Honey national hives. I then decided to buy another five brood-box only hives along with a queen cup system rearing kit. A few days later one box arrived that contained only brood-boxes and the queen raising system. I also found that the queen-cups in the system were actually incompatable. To cut a long story short, my emails went unanswered for over a week. Eventually, after a lot more emails from me, I was contacted. Three weeks after the first email the floors and roofs finally came, but no queen excluders or hive entrances. I also received the right queen cups but am still owed another packet. Four weeks after this debacle started I finally got everything I should have had in the first place. The communication from Bee-equipment was almost non existent, yet they seemed to have time to send me more advertising by email! I finally finished painting the hives days before I had to collect the new bees I had ordered. Phewwww.....talk about stressfull! I know that times are hard due to Covid-19, but other suppliers are coping. If Bee-equipment cannot do what they promise, they should not be trading until they are capable in a better climate?
